2nd Liceum of Kos
The 2nd Lyceum of Kos is a state school with 300 students and 35 teachers that is situated in the border island of Kos. Kos is located in the south-eastern Aegean Sea. Our school possesses library, ICT lab, physics and chemistry labs, gym etc. and has adopted initiatives that have to do with teaching such as cross-curricular approaches.
The students of our school come from different social backgrounds. Some are immigrants from countries of East Europe, we have students with different religions, most of our students are Christian but we also have a minority of Muslim students. Although our students have the opportunity to communicate and contact with people from others countries (Kos is a tourist resort) we feel it is very important for students in this mixed community to begin to see themselves as citizens of tomorrow’s Europe, and to see Greece in the wider context of diversity within a common European heritage. Our pupils are well-motivated and high-achieving and it is a central policy in our school that pupils must develop good knowledge of foreign languages, linked with key competences for employability such as ICT skills, creativity and team-work, in order not only to increase their chances of finding good jobs in the future but also to acquire a base of knowledge common to educated persons and the capacity to expand that base over their lifetime so that they develop an integrated personality.
2nd Lyceum of Kos has participated in various European projects both as a partner and as a coordinator.
Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Piotra Skargi w Grójcu
Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace im. P.Skargi in Grojec (L.O. Grojec) is an upper secondary school preparing students, aged 15 to 19, for university education. Among others, its students can do maths-physics, biology-chemistry, maths-geography or humanities.
The school is one of the oldest ones in the district of Grojec and in the whole Mazowiecke Province. It was founded in 1912. There are 50 teachers and about 450 students in the school. The secondary school students come from different social backgrounds. A large number of students come from rural areas, they are ambitious and well behaved.
Despite the fact that there are a few clubs existing at school, they still need additional, multicultural activities so that they could be more actively involved in the school life and cooperate more willingly, understanding the importance of both their cultural roots and respect for different social and cultural backgrounds. The school is situated in a small town (about 17 thousand inhabitants), which makes it easier to be in touch with students’ parents in order to discuss things immediately. The students feel the need of, and have deep interest in, learning about other cultures and making friends with students from abroad. “Energy Storage and Alternative Energy” Erasmus+ project contributes greatly to making students aware of the importance of environment protection and helps them understand ways of dealing with energy storage.

Alexandra Park School, UK
Alexandra Park School is a thriving and dynamic school which boasts excellent examination results and an outstanding curriculum experience in both the main school and the sixth form. The school is situated on a beautiful five-acre site adjacent to Durnsford Park within sight of Alexandra Palace. The school was opened in 1999 with the aim of creating a great comprehensive school at the heart of the community. We have become that great local school offering top-class education alongside a wealth of opportunities.
Ours is a rich, diverse and harmonious community with a culture of outstanding teaching and learning at its heart. Our school motto is “Success for all” and everything we do is planned to enable us to achieve this vision. At APS students will discover a supportive and friendly environment. Our students study a predominantly traditional curriculum with a focus on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. Our students achieve extremely well academically at the end of Key Stage 4. This year almost 90% of our students gained 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE and with the more important measure of 5A*-C with English and Maths the pass rate was above 80%. We ensure our students make excellent progress from when they arrive in Year 7 and have repeatedly achieved outstanding attainment and value-added, putting the school in the top 5% nationally. The English and Maths departments’ performance has seen them both ranked in the top 1% nationwide.
The sixth form was established 10 years ago. It has a comprehensive intake and offers an extensive range of courses. It is arguably the best performing sixth form in the area. The provision has been independently assessed (ALPS) as in the top 5% of institutions nationwide. Ofsted judged our sixth form as Outstanding in every category. In 2016 92% of our students achieved A*-C grades at A level, with 70% of these being A*-B and 43% being awarded the top A*/A grades. Two thirds of students were successful in their application to one of the UK’s top 30 universities and three quarters of our students were able to follow the course they had chosen at their first choice university.
Our latest Ofsted Inspection states “Alexandra Park School is an outstanding school. It is a reflective and self-critical organisation which lives its aim to ‘put learning first’ through its every action. Students are highly motivated learners who make rapid progress from their starting points through outstanding teaching, an excellent curriculum and exemplary care, guidance and support. Attainment is high and rising. Students are highly committed to their studies and are aspirational. Their ambitions are high as is reflected in large numbers of students progressing to the most competitive courses and universities.”
